Amaryllis Bold
"Amaryllis Bold" is a small study of the beautiful floral bloom of the Amaryllis. The painting breaks up of the negative space and explores the space relationship of the flower within.
The painting study is handled with a palette knife and with little emphasis on detail. This is fun and lively in handling, but the colorations remain more subtle or low key.The negative space varies a number of times in wonderful neutral hues that add to the pleasure of this small painting.
The painting is on a 8" x 6" double primed stretched canvas support . This is a slightly larger painting than "Amaryllis Composed" and a different frame choice. However, I have several that are the same size and in the same molding.
My preference was to site frame this piece as I did with a number of my smaller abstracts. This means that the canvas sits within the opening of the frame and not held in the frame by the rabbet.
The frame choice has a wonderful width and a mottled surface of dark brown/black with undertones of bronze. The frame has an outer and inside edge that is a bead of mat finished gold. The frame width is 2 7/8" with a side projection from the wall of 7/8".
The overall presentation is approximately 12" x 14" . This is suitable for wall hanging or to be displayed in a beautiful table easel.
There were 11 "Amaryllis" paintings done in this series. 4 of the 8" x 6" remain and one smaller also remains on the gallery market.
Enjoy, Nancy
