Check out my Blog on Artspan for works in progress, and art ideas. Comments and questions are always welcome.
I am, Nancy Bossert, a Fine Artist who loves to create with all materials. I have been blessed with a beautiful family and a wonderful passion and a glorious studio. I have been an active Fine artist for over 35 years and my work is represented by a number of galleries. My work can be found in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally.
I exhibit nationally and my work has received numerous awards; most recently "Coverd Face Recline" and "Waiting To Dance" won awards in different exhibitions. I generally participate in 3 exhibitions a year and currently will only do a one person show on a limited basis because of my commitment to galleries. I have been published in magazines and journals, but it is getting too burdensome to list, I'd rather create.
I also instruct Fine arts at a University and in my studio. Within the studio my instruction includes portfolio preparation for college admission, where I have assisted 100's of students with the portfolio process, and can share a wealth of stories and examples.
My main work as a Fine Artist is working with the figure, but abstractions aren't far behind. I have honed a great respect and quality with the encaustic medium and process. At any given time I will be working in clay, in particular mouth blown, or jewelry. The common thread in my work becomes the textural element and the coloration. I tend to use the same carry through of texture on my clay pieces as my paintings, and the same compositional balance.
As a mother of three this never seemed to be an unusual way to work. :) But a happy creative place were materials were always accessible and many solutions.
Look closely at my work and find fibers in my paintings and in my clay, stones in my paintings which transition into the clay. Creative play with words often happen. Clay slabs can actually move onto my painted surfaces. But balance is always crucial, and craftsmanship essential.
I welcome all questions, and hope that I never stop learning something everyday. From an Artist/Mother I might add, my oldest is now a plastic surgeon, my middle child is a teacher, and my youngest is a chemical engineer. And oh my gosh, they are unbelievable creative thinkers! Special requests are always welcome.
I decided to add another gallery of my fiber items. I have a hard time sitting still. Given a few minutes away from the studio I tend to take a bag of yarn, or on trips to see the grown children, and I must say I am rather fast and don't use patterns. I probably create between 100-200 items a year this way, and mainly hats with attitude. I donate 4-5 dozen a year to cancer patients and women/children shelters. The others go to galleries to foster my "Habit". :) Enjoy.
